Microchip Overview

A pet microchip creates a forever bond between you and the pet you love. Give your pets a microchip and you’ll give them the best chance of coming back home to you.

No appointment is needed to get a microchip or license for your pet. Walk-in at any time during our open hours (Every Day 8-5 P.M.).

We use HomeAgain microchips. Please visit their website if you need to update your address, contact information or add your veterinarian to your pet’s records.

What is a Microchip?

A microchip is a form of permanent identification (as small as a grain of rice) that is inserted into the scruff of the animal’s neck. The procedure is as simple as a routine vaccination.

When a lost or stray animal comes into the shelter or to the vet’s office, it can be digitally scanned a for a microchip. If detected, the microchip will lead to the owner’s information.

A microchip is the perfect identification device because it cannot be lost or easily removed. Rifle Animal Shelter places microchips in all of our adopted dogs and cats.

Along with a collar bearing current rabies and dog license, a microchip is a fantastic tool to ensure your animal will be returned to you! Please drop in with your pet, or feel free to contact us for more information regarding the microchipping process.
